A sweetgrass circle rotates slowly on teal, ed and gold backgrounds. Text reads: End Forced Birth Evacuations indigenousmidwifery.ca Every year, thousands of Indigenous people are forced to leave their families and communities to give birth alone in distant hospitals. This is part of long-standing federal health policy. Forced birth evacuations are cruel, costly and unnecessary. They result in poor health outcomes for First Nations, Métis and Inuit lifegivers and their infants. Indigenous midwifery is a sustainable, culturally-rooted, community-based alternative. Indigenous midwifery is proven to result in positive health outcomes.
