Tan background with black text Call for Interest: Language Project Dear NCIM members, The National Council of Indigenous Midwives (NCIM) is seeking Indigenous community groups to co-create resources to revitalize Indigenous languages in the care setting. Examples of resources you may want to create include: lactation or newborn care pamphlet, list of labour words or anatomy poster, etc. Community groups will be responsible for identifying and working with language speakers and developing the resource concept. NCIM will provide a micro-contribution of up to $3000 for language speakers and meeting costs of the community groups. NCIM will cover design and initial print costs. NCIM’s vision is that these resources will support the daily use of Indigenous languages in sexual, reproductive, birth and newborn care, as part of bringing back Indigenous living languages and the teachings that live within them. We hope these resources will be further translated so they may benefit many more communities and Nations. Community groups will have until January 10, 2024 to develop the resource. The design process will begin in January, 2024. Community groups will have an opportunity to provide feedback during the design process and will receive a shipment of their printed materials.
